MediaCityUK will once again be filled with festive cheer when it hosts the annual Santa Run. With a scheduled date of Sunday 29 November, the 5k will be an ideal way to kickstart the Christmas celebrations with hundreds of Santa-clad runners descending on Salford Quays.
Starting outside the BBC offices, the course moves into the Lowry Plaza at The Lowry Outlet Mall, passing through the Christmas Victorian Markets, past the Imperial War Museum and over the new bridge before finishing in MediaCityUK square.
Now in its fourth year, the Santa Run returns in 2015 with a new sponsor, Manchester-based cloud provider UKFast The event is part of the Sports Tours International portfolio, which also includes the highly popular We Love Manchester 10K and City of Salford 10K races.
Race director Graham Jackson commented: “This is a fun event for the festive season, no times are recorded and everyone is welcome to take part, whether you wish to walk or run the course, which is approximately 5km. All finishers receive a commemorative medal and a selection box for the children. We encourage everyone to wear Santa suits, which are included in the entry fee when you enter online if you don’t have your own.”
The Santa Run entry fee, including the Santa Suit, is £15 for adults and £10 for children. Or if runners are using their own suit, the entry fee for adults is £10 and for children £6. More information is available here.
