Hundreds of Santa-clad runners will descend upon MediaCityUK this Sunday (30 November) with the return of the annual Santa Run. The event, organised by Sports Tours International in association with retailer Sporting Pro, is seen as the ideal way to keep on track with your winter training while getting into the festive spirit.
Starting outside the new BBC offices at Salford Quays, the course moves into the Lowry Plaza at The Lowry Outlet Mall, passing through the Christmas Victorian Markets, past the Imperial War Museum and over the new bridge before finishing in MediaCityUK square. The distance will be approximately 5k.
Sports Tours International race director, Graham Jackson, commented: “This is a fun event for the festive season, no times are recorded and everyone is welcome to take part, whether you wish to walk or run the course, which is approximately 5km. All finishers receive a commemorative medal and a selection box for the children. We encourage everyone to wear Santa suits, which can be added when you enter online, if you don’t have your own.”
Also partnering this year’s event are Salford City Council and Text Santa, the charity initiative set up by ITV to support UK charities during the Christmas period. Those taking part can raise money for their chosen charity or run for fun.
Adding to the festive spirit, MediaCityUK’s magical Ice Rink will be open exclusively for the first hour for Santa runners on the morning of the race. Entry fee for adults is set at just £15and £10 for children, which includes the price for a Santa suit.
You can register here. Entries will be available on the day.
