Leading outdoor brand Silva has announced that Andy Vernon, the British international runner, is the latest athlete to join as a brand ambassador. Vernon, whose achievements include victory at the Bupa London 10k and sixth place at the Commonwealth Games over 5000m, joins a Silva ambassadorial team that includes UK orienteering champion Tessa Hill.
It follows the launch of a new range of outdoor equipment from Silva including the Trail Runner II USB head lamp and other running accessories including visibility jackets, vests and hydration belts. Their head lamps are regarded as the leading products in the market and is seen as a vital piece of equipment for those running in the evening or early morning.
Vernon, who runs for Aldershot, Farnham & District AC, put in a strong showing at last weekend’s 5000m final to finish in 13:22.32. His performance is all the more impressive considering he had been plagued by injuries for much of the year.
Commenting on his new role with Silva, Vernon said: “The last few years have provided plenty of challenges and more than their share of excitement. It is very satisfying to join Silva as brand ambassador alongside so many other extremely talented athletes and I am looking forward to a long and fruitful partnership.”
