In addition to their weekly 3 mile trail run in Otley, event organisers Run Sunday are inviting runners to take part in the winter version of the Saltaire Shaker on Sunday 16 February. Known as the Saltaire Shaker-Ice Age, the 15k race begins in Roberts Park and moves alongside the River Wharfe.
After the River Wharfe, the route passes beside the Leeds Liverpool Canal and through Field and Buck Wood. With a distance that translates to just under 10 miles, the event is seen as the perfect way to boost your training in the lead-up to a spring half or even full marathon.
As an added incentive, all entrants will receive a 10% discount from race sponsors, Pyrenees Haven, on any holiday booked with them. Pyrenees Haven is run by former UK Fell Running champ Gary Devine and his wife Debbie and is the perfect destination for an activity holiday. The pair is also giving away a week’s free half board to one lucky runner or marshal in The Saltaire Shaker Ice Age.
Entry for the race is priced at a very reasonable £12. For more information, visit the event website.
