South Yorkshire will welcome a new addition to the parkrun family this weekend when Sheffield Castle celebrates its first run. The event is the third parkrun launched in South Yorkshire this year, following Rother Valley and Rotherham.
The route consists of three laps of Manor Park and starts and finishes at Manor Fields Park, City Road (Spring Lane). A quick glance at the route suggests the profile isn't wholly flat, so expect a couple of inclines / descents over the course of the 5k.
Sheffield Castle's addition makes South Yorkshire one of the busiest areas for parkrun activity with nine separate events taking place each Saturday morning. Sheffield Hallam, first on the scene in 2010, has long been the most popular in the circuit with 400 runners regularly turning out at Endcliffe Park.
