Shona Thomson added the North Pole Marathon to her roll of honour last week (Wednesday 9 April) finishing third woman in a time of 9:09:22. The courageous Scot completed a seventh marathon in seven continents last September in the teeming heat of Da Nang, Vietnam to secure a place in the exclusive Seven Marathons Continents Club. Now success in vastly different conditions confirms her 'adventurer' status.
Next month Shona will be teaming up with her trainer David Arnott to present three talks at the Ellis Brigham stores in London, Manchester and Glasgow. She will cover her background and her decision to change direction from a career in the City to endurance athlete and charity fundraiser.
Shona will discuss what motivated her to undertake her global marathon challenge and provide highlights from her North Pole run. David Arnott, a highly experienced personal trainer, will focus on nutrition as a key part of training programmes and offer tips and advice on how to build strength for endurance events.
Proceeds from the talks will go to Shona's nominated charities Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust and the 5x50 Challenge.
Shona's Adventures of Endurance talks are at Covent Garden (Tuesday 13 May), Manchester (Thursday 15 May) and Glasgow (Thursday 22 May). Full details at the Ellis Brigham website.
