With the dust just settled on another memorable Tour of Merseyside, race organisers BTR Liverpool are already looking forward to their next event, the Whistle Stop Tour of Wirral. Set over three consecutive days, the multi-race event requires competitors to cover 26 miles in a whirlwind tour of the borough.
Launched in 2015, the Whistle Stop Tour has proven to be a popular addition to the BTR portfolio with the three-day, multi-terrain races a big draw for runners.
For 2018, challengers will embark upon their first challenge on Friday 7 September at Arrowe Park with a five-mile off-road race. This will be followed by eight challenging miles at Thurstaston Country Park, Thurstaston Beach and the Wirral Way, before the Wirral Tourists join the field of the Wirral Half Marathon for the final event on Sunday 9 September.
Just 300 places are made available for the Whistle Stop Tour and this is an event that sells out each year. As a bonus for 2018, if you are targeting a PB time at the event (or at the Wirral Half Marathon and 10K), organisers are offering the opportunity to gain a bonus PB medal.
Anyone chasing a PB will be required to send their current PB time to BTR Liverpool race director Alan Rothwell.
