Organisers of the Nuffield Health Shrewsbury Half Marathon have announced a high profile partnership with Science in Sport (SiS), now confirmed as their official sports nutrition partner. The exciting arrangement means that those competing at the event on Sunday 19 June will be able to enjoy GO Isotonic Energy Gels at mile 6 and 9, with recovery sachets available in the goody bags at the finish line.
The news arrives at a point in which the race looks like to expand its reach with a new team, UKRunChat, now in control. After attracting just less than 1500 runners last year, it is anticipated that a further 500 will compete this summer.
The 2016 route will incorporate both the medieval town centre of Shrewsbury as well as some of Shropshire’s beautiful countryside. The course takes runners along the river in the beautiful Quarry, home of the Shrewsbury Flower show, then through the historic town centre before heading out over the English bridge to do run a loop in the Kingsland estate, finishing back in the showground.
Race director Joe Williams commented: “We are excited to have SiS join us as our official sports nutrition partner for the Nuffield Health Shrewsbury Half Marathon 2016. As runners ourselves, we are big fans of this brand and are sure our runners will appreciate being fuelled by the experts from SiS.”
Joe believes the new partnership is a strong signal of intent from organisers UKRunChat: “As new organisers of the event we want to give extra value to our runners and we are proud to add SiS as a high profile partner to the race, doing just that.”
Registration for the Nuffield Health Shrewsbury Half Marathon is priced at £26.50 (or £24.50 for affiliated runners). More information is available here.
