Midnight over the South Downs

Midnight over the South Downs

Queen Elizabeth Country Park, near Petersfield, Hampshire
Saturday 28 July 2018 - 21:00

Imagine the excitement of night running in the South Downs National Park under a full moon on a summer’s night.

Enjoy this memorable night race on way-marked good quality trails, with a chip-timed start and finish.  With well-stocked aid stations every 7km and a great range of drinks, sweets, savouries and fruit, you'll be well looked after.

High above the surrounding village, you'll see the twinkling lights below and against the silhouette of darkened hills, the torches of the other runners making their way out and back.

This is a personal challenge for every competitor. Being in the South Downs, it has some tough hills and varied terrain underfoot with sections of grass, gravel, chalk and tarmac but above all, the unique experience of running in the countryside at night surrounded by some of the best that nature in the South of England has to offer.

Midnight Marathon medalLeaving the hills and returning to the country park, after the last downhill section you cross the finish line to be rewarded with a bespoke one-off finisher’s medal and T-shirt.

Here, warm food awaits to set you up for the journey home to a well-deserved sleep and that great feeling of having been part of the 2018 South Downs Midnight Marathon.
