For those looking to kickstart their spring training, organisers of the City of Salford 5k and 10k are offering half-price entry for the event. The cut-off point for early-bird registration is 31 May, so interested runners are encouraged to sign up early for what is a well-organised race that is ideal for both first-timers and those seeking a PB.
Due to take place on Sunday 8 September, the discounted price means runners can register for £9 and £8 (or £8 and £6 for affiliated members).
Known for its flat profile, this year will see a slightly modified route with competitors start along the wide boulevard of The Quays allowing the field to thin out before turning left on to Broadway and heading back into MediaCity UK. After the first bridge, runners will continue through Trafford Park before heading over the second Lowry bridge and into the Salford Quays area for the final 1k.
The Salford 5K runs through MediaCity UK, through the BBC into Trafford Park before crossing the Lowry Bridge and back over to the Salford Quays side and finishing in The Plaza.
