The Ramathon, previously known as the old Derby Ramathon, is set to return for the first time in 18 years. The race, set for 8 June 2014, will utilise the grounds of Elvaston Castle and the surrounding area, with a fast and flat route promised.
Race director Richard Kay commented: "It is fantastic to be bringing a half marathon event back to the area. This new Ramathon will be a bit different to the old Derby Ramathon in the sense that it won't be taking place around the main city roads due to the major disruption it would cause and instead, it starts and finishes in the magnificent grounds of Elvaston Castle, just outside the city boundary."
Registration for the event opens on 8 January and organisers have placed a strict limit of 1,000 entries. Richard Kay said that numbers are likely to increase each year but are keen on ensuring the inaugural event is successful.
In addition to the main half marathon event, there will be a Mini Ramathon around the grounds of Elvaston Castle. This fun run will be targeting young children and their families to participate as well as to provide entertainment whilst the half marathon event is taking place.
Entry fee for The Ramathon has been set at £15 for affiliated club runners and £17 unattached. For more information, visit the event website.
