Throughout the course of this week, running enthusiasts will be given the opportunity to relive one of the most iconic moments in the sport. The Oxford Playhouse are presenting a performance entitled, 'The Story of the Four Minute Mile,' in which they recount Bannister's incredible performance in 1954.
Taking place on the Sir Roger Bannister Running Track, where the four minute mile record was first made, the interactive production invites the audience to walk a mile in Bannister's footsteps.
The performance will recapture the excitement of the build-up to the moment when Bannister crossed the line in 3:59:40. There will also be anecdotes given from Oxford residents present on the day and from one of the pacemakers who kept Bannister on track to set the record.
The Story of the Four Minute Mile runs until Sunday, May 13, at the Iffley Road Sports Complex. It is priced at £8 or £5 concession and the production lasts for approximately 75 minutes. To book, visit the Oxford Playhouse website.
