Run North West has announce the date of their highly popular Christmas curtain raiser, the Wilmslow Festive 10K. The event has sold out in each of its previous stagings, with organisers having to double the entry capacity for 2017 to keep up with demand.
The upcoming race, scheduled for Sunday 25 November, looks set to follow this trend and the anticipation is entries will be snapped up quickly - news of registration opening was met with a strong response on the event's Facebook page.
A big draw for runners is the speedy, point-to-point course that moves out of Wilmslow, along Knutsford Road before heading back round to Burleyhurst Lane and finishing on Mobberly Road.
2017 saw a series of extremely quick times, including a second successive victory for Cardiff's Matthew Clowes, who defended his title with victory in 29:46. Blackburn Harriers' Ben Fish took second in 30:35 and Chris Arthur third (30:54).
Clayton-Le-Moors' Laura Hesketh set a PB of 34:28 en route to victory in the women's competition, with Katy Hedgethorne (34:45) and Gemma Connolly (35:52) in second and third respecitvely.
Entry for the Wilmslow Festive 10K is priced at £19.50
