Tim In Peake Condition For London

Tim PeakeBritish astronaut Tim Peake says he’s ready to run Digital Virgin Money London Marathon on Sunday 24 April. The 44-year-old is hoping to become the first man to run a marathon in space by completing the 26.2 miles on a treadmill on the International Space Station.

Tim said of the feat: “It’s a great challenge that I set myself, and I’m quite glad this is happening later on in the mission.”

Tim will run at the same time as the other 38,000 marathon runners, including several European Space Agency and UK Space Agency representatives calling themselves Team Astronaut. They are hoping to “share in a little of Tim’s pain” according to Jonathan Scott from the ESA’s space medicine office.

Both Tim and his Team Astronaut colleagues are running the marathon for the Prince’s Trust.
