The ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon received a top accolade at last week’s The Running Awards, scooping first in the 'UK’s Best Marathon' category (of over 5000 runners). This recognition from the running community meant the event reclaimed its winning title from 2014 and 2015.
Taking place at The O2 in London, The Running Awards celebrates the best of running and its culture, with runners and consumers nominating and voting for their favourite products, brands, publications, sports retailers, charities and events.
The award given to the Greater Manchester Marathon comes on the back of another successful event earlier this month in which 8,500 plus runners made their way to the Trafford Arch. Staged for over 40 years, the marathon is known as one of the flattest in Europe and results in numerous PBs.
On receiving the award, race director Simon Hill commented: “We are thrilled that the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon has been voted the UK’s best marathon for a third time by runners, and we would like to thank every single runner who took the time to vote for us. This really means a lot to myself and the team and we are very grateful for all the support.”
The date for the 2018 edition of the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon is yet to be confirmed, although runners can pre-register and secure their place here.
