After its successful reintroduction in 2015, the Tour of Tameside, a multi-stage, four race competition regained its reputation as one of the North West's most distinctive events. To celebrate everything that makes the event special, Sports Tours International is hosting a 'Talk of the Tour' evening tomorrow (Tuesday 13 December).
The Tour, founded by Dr. Ron Hill in 1983, became an immediate success with over 500 runners taking part on its return in 2015. This year resulted in a further upturn with competitors thriving on the multi-stage format and enjoying a fitting finale at Hyde Town Hall as hundreds of spectators cheered them through the concluding race.
Tuesday’s event will celebrate all the elements, past and present, that have ensured that the Tour retains a special place in the racing calendar. The evening, being held at The Grafton Centre, Hyde, will display pictures, memorabilia, and video footage from Tours gone by with special guests in attendance. Former competitors will be given a chance to meet friends (or foes!) from previous years.
Only 100 places have been made available for tomorrow's free event. If you are interested in attending, please RSVP to Kevin Harmer at Sports Tours International (firstname.lastname@example.org). The 2017 edition of the Tour of Tameside is organised for Thursday 15 June – Sunday 18 June.
Further information, including details for single race entry, is available at the event website.
