Tour Runners Seek Golden Number

Fred DoneRunners who compete in all four stages of the upcoming Tour of Tameside will be automatically entered into a lucrative prize draw that will win them £1000 for their chosen charity. The charitable support has been offered by Fred Done, chairman of race organisers Sports Tours International.

Fred, the owner of Betfred, the world’s largest independent bookmaker and gaming company, holds an affinity with the Tour having completed the original race on five occasions. As such, Fred will present a cheque of £1000 at the final awards presentation on Sunday 19 June

On the event, which runs for four days from Thursday 16 June, Fred commented: “The Tour of Tameside is a tough challenge but it doesn’t matter how fast you are – if you take part in each stage of the Tour you could have the lucky golden number. It’s great to see so many people fundraising for charity and I’ve introduced the golden number to support those running for good causes.”

Runners who take on all four days will cover the distance of one and a half marathons, with each day covering different routes and types of terrain across a mixture of closed roads, trails and country routes.
