With just over two weeks until race day, the Trafford 10K has once again proven to be one of the most popular events in the south of Manchester with all of the 950 places snapped up. The event is renowned for its speedy course and it looks inevitable that the 5 March race will be as hotly contested as ever.
The men’s field will see 150 runners who boast a PB of under 32 minutes (and many sub-30 runners), making it one of the most star-studded to date in 2017.
This includes well-known faces such as, Paul Pollock, John Beattie, Phil Nicholls, Mohammad Abu-Rezeq and Matt Hynes The women’s field will be similarly competitive with Beth Potter, Elinor Kirk, Alyson Dixon, Lauren Howarth, and Sonia Samuels likely to be involved at the head of the field.
Tom Lancashire had to put in a PB performance to secure victory last year, crossing the line in 28:56. Swedish runner David Nilsson took second (29:01), while Mohammad Abu-Rezeq finished in third position (29:09). Charnwood’s Juliet Potter was first in the female competition in 33:50, with Rebecca Robinson second (34:06) and Eleanor Davis third (34:13).
Look out for our report of the Trafford 10K post-race.
