After the success of last month's Nike Running Challenge Chester half marathon, organisers are now busy preparing for this year's MBNA Chester marathon, starting with a training seminar for the event this Saturday, 8 June.
The free training seminar, titled '17 weeks to the MBNA Chester marathon', will feature motivation and training tips, sample training plans, advice on avoidance of injuries, nutrition and hydration, as well as advice for those looking to take the step from a half marathon to a marathon distance.
Top of the bill at the seminar will be top coach Marc Laithwaite who will be giving a presentation on key aspects of marathon training. This will be followed by an informal, one hour training run.
The seminars were introduced two years ago and have helped runners, especially those tackling the distance for the first time, in the lead up to October's event. Joint race organiser Andy White commented: "We want the 2013 MBNA Chester marathon to be a fantastic, rewarding experience for all those who run it. We are therefore keen to give runners as much information and guidance as possible to help them achieve their goal, whether that be just getting around or achieving a particular time."
The MBNA Chester marathon free training run and seminar will be held on Saturday 8 June at Total Fitness, Liverpool Road, Chester, starting at 9.00am. To apply for a place please contact the Chester marathon team. Entries for the race, which is scheduled for Sunday 6 October, are still open.
