Three prestigious good causes have been awarded 'official charity' status at the 2017 UKFast City of Salford 10K. The Christie Charity, Cash For Kids and The Diane Modahl Sports Foundation, all local to the area, have been confirmed for this year’s event on Sunday 3 September.
Each charity provides its own distinctive and worthy cause to compete and raise funds for at the upcoming race. Since its inception in 2008, the event, organised by Sports Tours International, has become one of the biggest and best mass participation running events in the North West and a key fundraiser for local charities.
In the first Sunday of September, around 3,500 runners will tackle a course that moves from MediaCityUK piazza and follows a route around Salford Quays and Trafford Park before crossing the bridge back into MediaCityUK to the finish line.
On confirmation of the three official charities for this year’s event, Kevin Harmer commented: “Sports Tours International is delighted to be working with three key charities in the region, giving them additional exposure of their good work and a platform to promote their key objectives."
Kevin added: “Sport plays a massive part in charitable fundraising and we are really pleased to be working with charities that are helping people in need.”
Registration for the UKFast City of Salford 10K is priced at £21 (or £19 for club runners).
