The first of the National Trust’s trail running events took place last weekend at Liverpool with 59 competitors making their way to Speke Hall. Entitled Trust10, the events have been organised across selected National Trust sites and have been designed for beginners and more advanced runners (couch to 10k concept) with no real pressure of being timed.
Rachael Hanlon, sports development officer at Speke Hall, plus other staff members have been working closely with England Athletics' Merseyside activator Nikki Holding to launch and develop the Trust10 concept across National Trust properties.
Organisers are confident they will build on the numbers who took part in the first event and are aiming for regular turnouts of around 200. The next 10K, which will again take place at Speke Hall, is scheduled for Sunday 27 December, and is free to enter. The runs will then continue on every fourth Sunday of each month.
For information on how to register, visit the England Athletics website here. The event is also seeking volunteers to assist in setting up and marshaling on the day.
