BTR Liverpool, organisers of the Port Sunlight Road Race, have confirmed that Unilever Port Sunlight will once again be the headline sponsor for the 2016 event. The announcement arrives as momentum for the event is starting to properly gather pace, with race day nine weeks away on Sunday 17 April.
Set against the stunning Port Sunlight village, the event is within easy reach of runners across Merseyside and enjoyed immediate success when launched in 2012. Last year saw further development with 1800 runners taking part in the 10k and 5k races, with a children’s 1k fun run also on the programme.
Unilever is supporting the event for the third consecutive year as Unilever brightFuture – its movement for people everywhere who want to make the world a better place for their children and future generations. The company has strong ties to Port Sunlight, where founder William Lever buit his factory and village in 1888.
Paul Harris, CEO of the Port Sunlight Village Trust, who work in conjunction with BTR Liverpool to host the event, commented: “We are delighted to be hosting the fifth annual Port Sunlight Road Race in the village again this year – and to be working with Unilever as headline sponsor and BTR Liverpool as the race organiser.
The event is a perfect fit for Port Sunlight and there is always a very special atmosphere in the village on race day thanks to the many thousands of runners, visitors and village residents who turn out to support the occasion.”
Standard entry fee is £22 for the 10k, or £17 for 5k. Further details are available here.
