Darran Bilton, manager of the Harrogate branch of Up and Running, was delighted to hand over a cheque to representatives from Help for Heroes in the store last week. The proceeds came from last year's Dalby Dash 10K, a race Darran organised, with runners raising £1500 for charity.
As part of their 21st birthday celebrations, Up and Running provided generous sponsorship through prizes and were delighted to see a full house at the Dalby Dash. The proceeds were then shared between the two nominated charities, Help for Heroes and Rotarians.
Launched in 2007, Help for Heroes was set up to provide better facilities for British servicemen and women who have been wounded in Britain's current conflicts. On their fundraising efforts, Darran told northernrunningguide.com: "As the race is held on Remembrance Sunday every year, it is fitting that our service men and women should benefit."
Darran is hoping that this year's race, organised for Sunday 10 November, will once again be a sell-out. Leaving from Low Dalby's visitor centre in the North Yorkshire Moors, the 10k is known to be fairly undulating with some stunning scenery throughout the course.
