Sunday 12 July will see the return of one of the most popular and well regarded events in the northern calendar, the We Love Manchester 10K. Affectionately known as the ‘People’s Race', the 10k is set to build on last year’s turnout when almost 3000 runners take part.
The race boasts a fitting start and finish at the Regional Athletics Track, Sportcity, next to the Etihad Stadium, home to Manchester City FC. Moving out of Sportcity, the course loops at 6.5k comes back into the campus to let runners enjoy a cracking finale on the track.
Marathon legend and Sports Tours International ambassador Ron Hill MBE, said: ‘’The We Love Manchester 10K run truly is the ‘peoples run’ and I am proud to be a part of such a great incentive for Manchester. It is a fantastic run and great to see so many local communities get involved to help the people of Manchester.’’
A key focus for this year’s event will be to raise funds for the We Love Manchester charity: an organisation that aims to assist children, young people, families and older people experiencing disadvantage with the purpose of making a difference to people’s lives.
Cash prizes for a race that is known to offer a prime opportunity for setting a PB will be of interest to those likely to finish high up the field: £250 for the winner, £150 for second place and £75 for third place.
Registration, up until 30 April, is priced at just £15 (or £10 for club runners). Entry details are available here.
