Wetherby Runners AC’s Yorkshire Gold 5K returns alongside the Wetherby 10K on Sunday 4 September 2016. The 5k is a friendly, club organised event, well-supported by the local community and running clubs.
The Yorkshire Gold 5K is named in recognition of the National Award bestowed on the club by BARR in 2013 and has retained the highest grade ranking for a number of years. The event’s popularity has spread across the county and the shorter race has been developed to make the event more inclusive.
The Yorkshire Gold 5K will start at 12:30pm – an hour and a half before the 10k and after the Mini Marathon Fun run. The route is just over two laps of a course on private roads, tarmacked cycle way and a short section on a farm track. The date of the race suits those training for The Yorkshire Marathon in October or with the Great North Run in mind, as it offers a fast course as a tapering run the week before the big day.
With winners and vets prizes cash prizes also being supported by Mizuno, Up & Running and Subsports Compression Clothing, just like the Wetherby 10k, the Yorkshire Gold 5K promises to be every bit the aspiring younger brother to the main event. Early entry is advised to receive the voucher-strewn event race booklet.
The race is a chip timed event with a race limit of 200 runners. Entries cost £13 for unattached runners and £11 for attached runners, with online entries closing on 20 August.
