Yorkshire Marathon To Be Televised

Yorkshire Marathon

Organisers of the Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon have confirmed that highlights of the inaugural event, scheduled for Sunday 20 October, will be shown on TV. Plusnet has commissioned Dream Team Television to produce a 50 minute highlights programme to air on Sunday 3 November.

Jamie Ford, CEO of Plusnet, said he was delighted to confirm the news and feels this will further add to the sense of occasion on race day: "The Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon has had great interest even before anyone takes to the start line. We are very proud to be supporting the event and pleased that it will now be showcased to a broader audience through this TV programme."

The event, set to draw in a field of 6,500 runners, is the latest addition to the Jane Tomlinson Run For All series. Such has been the interest in the race, entry levels were increased twice to keep up with demand. The race starts and finishes at the Heslington campus of the University of York and takes in Walmgate Bar, Parliament Street and St Helen's Square.

Other landmarks along the route include the Mansion House and the imposing York Minster. Runners will leave the city walls via the ornate Monk Bar and then journey on around the Vale of York and the villages and towns of North Yorkshire.

The programme will debut on Channel 4 on Sunday 4 November at 7:00am and will be presented by Rob Walker, Dean Macey and Charlie Webster.
