Yorkshire Pieathlon hungry for more runners

PieAthlon

A favourite among the runABC North news desk team, Team OA’s festive cracker, the PieAthlon, is set to return to West Yorkshire next month. The unique event, dubbed ‘The Hungriest Race in Yorkshire’, sees participants tackle a 6k course dotted with pie stations.

Team OA has established themselves as a race organiser with a keen eye for themed events: in addition to the PieAthlon, they are also behind the popular PizzaAthlon, ChocAthlon, CakeAthlon and Aleathlon.

Pieathlon was the first in their portfolio, however, and has been running for five years. Next month’s event, scheduled for Sunday 9 December, will see participants start and finish at Longwood Edge Road (Huddersfield), with a series of climbs over the course of the 6k route: the pies, fruit, meat and vegetable, are stationed every 2k.

Prizes will be on offer for the top three finishers in the male and female fields. Entries for this year’s event are still open and available here. Registration is priced at £18.50.
